Steve Ohol is a very proud and devoted farmer. I have total respect for the time and passion he puts into the farm he owns with his brother. Steve is going to be one awesome Dad.
I learned a ton about dairy cows while photographing Steve & Devon for their country setting, dairy cow, farm land maternity shoot.
We started off the shoot with some props and using the signage and locations for the background. We were hoping for lots of afternoon sunset and glow, but as I arrived the clouds rolled in. So with use of Nikon speed lights and gels and some creative lighting techniques I was able to create the same feel we would of had from the sun. Luckily for Devon's height the corn was low so we were able to play around in the corn field a bit, not so lucky is Steve because the corn is not as big as it should be this time of year. Send some mother nature wishes for a good crop this year to them.
So all said and done, I had a really fun time, love the shots I was able to create.
When you enjoy a glass of milk, a bowl of ice cream or some delicious cheese, think of farmers like Steve, and wives like Devon that support them. They work really hard to bring us these treats and should be supported and paid for their hard-work.
Thank you for having me out at the farm and to be able to create and capture this Lifestage.
