As the graphic designer here at Onion, I’ve had the pleasure of designing a number of peek-a-boo albums for our clients. If you haven’t heard of a peek-a-boo session, it’s a great package that includes photos at newborn, three months, six months, nine months and one year with a finished album as the final result. It’s obviously the cutest project I get to work on! I love creating a story for a family that they will be able to cherish for the rest of their lives. [I’m not exaggerating, the albums are lifetime guaranteed!]
The newborn session is two hours in-studio with many prop and backgrounds to choose from. The 3,6 ,9, and 12 month sessions are one hour in-studio and include outfit and background changes. It’s always fun to see what parents come up with!
The 12 month session also includes something fun at the end. Either a cake smash or paint party. I've also seen a tubby time session. Dylan and Robyn are always open to new ideas, too!
I myself just recently gave birth to a baby boy in June, and was given the opportunity to work with Dylan and Robyn for his newborn session. This was the first time I’ve ever done a newborn session because my first son was born on Christmas [insert eye roll here], so I wasn’t exactly sure how it would go.
Dylan and Robyn were great. Before my session, they asked me if I’d like any sort of theme or color. I told them Owen’s room was a woodland theme with lots of blues and grays. They picked out a nice gray fabric for one background and then some fur and a navy wrap for another. It was perfect!
Once we got there, they had the room toasty warm. Perfect for naked baby photos. Dylan and Robyn certainly had a magic touch. They kept Owen comfortable and sleeping. They also allowed time for a nursing break.
My husband and I also brought along our 3 year old son, Knox, and it was really amazing to see Dylan and Robyn interact with him. They were able to get Knox to lay along side Owen and snap a photo of the two of them “sleeping.” It was my favorite photo by far.
After a few family shots, we were done. It was a really great experience and now I have photos of Owen’s itty bitty bum to look back on forever.
